Spun Fall Class Calendar

We went a little crazy with our class lineup this fall. We've got over 30 classes scheduled, including many updated and returning favorites like Brioche 1 and Brioche 2 with Lynn and Lizzie, a Fair Isle Workshop with Tanya, Fixing Knitting Mistakes with Sunday, numerous options for Beginning Knitting and Beginning Crochet, and a half-dozen classes taught by Spun's own Harriette, Brandon, and Anne. We are introducing a host of workshops, inviting you to make everything from a top-down cardigan or pullover to Andrea Mowry's "Ramble" shawl, as well as numerous skill-building sessions, including Everything They Assume You Know, designed to help you decipher the sometimes confusing instructions and notations in knitting patterns. The schedule also features sessions with Jillian Moreno and Melynda Bernardi, along with a very special new master class series taught by Julie Hoover.

Whether you're looking for guided practice to knit your first sweater, or you want to take your crochet skills to the next level, we hope you'll find something perfect in this fall's schedule.

Full descriptions of each class are available on our site, where you can also reserve and pay for your spot. And of course, Spun staff members are always happy to answer any questions and help guide you to the class that's right for you so stop by or give us a call!

Primrose Yarns

from Kelsey Stephens in Dallastown, PA

Kelsey's spectacular colorways will knock your socks off! (Forgive the pun: it's early.) Come in and spend a little time with fingering-weight Adelaide and Luscious Sock and sport-weight Meera, and we guarantee inspiration. Before you get started, though, you might want to practice graciously accepting compliments. To quote our friend Andrea, “Just smile, and say thank you.”

designed by Jennifer Dassau and knit by Anne in Brooklyn Tweed Arbor

Hail! Anne was working on a piece to wear to UM hockey games this fall, and we liked it so much we asked, "May we please borrow it until the season starts?" Anne, whom we all acknowledge as one of the kindest people ever, smiled and accepted the compliment and said yes. Knit in Arbor colorways Fleet, Klimt, and Degas (did Brooklyn Tweed put out a Michigan retro palette on purpose??), "Sundry" is an elongated, asymmetrical wrap that combines the warmth and style of a shawl with the wearability of a scarf. Stop by and see it in the shop, or pick up some hockey tickets and say hi to Anne at Yost!

"Dotted Rays"

designed by Stephen West and knit by Anne in Brooklyn Tweed Arbor

Anne must be going for the "Michigan Superfan" title, or maybe she had some Arbor left over from "Sundry," but either way, the result is a happy one for us. "Dotted Rays" is a quick, fun knit, thanks to garter stitch short rows and yarn-overs, and the result is a wearable wrap that will keep you warm at hockey games or wherever you venture. Come take a look!

Baggu Project Bags and Totes

Doesn't your WIP deserve a beautiful home while you're working on it? We've added to our collection of Baggu goodies with a few new fabrics and the colossal Weekender, which can fit your Brooklyn Tweed sweater and a couple of beach towels, snacks, and sunscreen!
