I learned to dance at an early age. My granddaddy was a fiddler (I have his hand-made fiddle), and he often played at local Granges where I learned to square dance and what was then called to slow dance. Later I learned how to jitter-bug. I grew up in a small PA town (that Barack Obama accurately described) that had for entertainment a dance hall, movie theater and pool hall; and lots of Sunday Schools. Film, pool and religion had little enduring value for me, but the first - dancing - did. So I was thrilled to dance with my granddaughter, Lily, at my nephew's wedding!
